Qvarn, Gluu, Yubico and Nixu to jointly demonstrate secure “mobile handshake” at Nordic IT Security Conference

At the Nordic IT Security Conference in Stockholm, Sweden on 26 October 2016, the partners behind the award-winning, free and open-source Qvarn Platform will jointly demonstrate how a mobile phone can be used together with a Yubikey USB authentication device for secure personal identification. With this physical “mobile handshake,” people can digitally authenticate their identity both online and at physical locations – for secure access to person registers, workplaces and other domains.

The Qvarn platform is designed for use by the public sector, educational institutions and small-to-medium sized enterprises, for securely managing information of a personal or otherwise sensitive nature. This includes medical records, research findings, elderly care data, employee digital identities, and more. The platform currently houses the identity information of close to one million construction workers across the Nordic and Baltic region, and is key in efforts to combating the grey economy in the building sector.

Privacy by Design is central to the architecture of Qvarn and the platform has been specifically developed to enable companies or organizations to comply with the European Union Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Qvarn has been third party audited to a security level of high.

In recognition of its industry-leading security profile, in May 2016 the Qvarn Platform was awarded the prize for “Best Approach on Improving Governance and Mitigating Risks” at the European Identity & Cloud Awards 2016 in Munich, Germany. This top industry award recognized Qvarn for “successfully reducing risk, adding business value and delighting users.”

The development and provision of Qvarn is a combined open-source effort bringing together the best service providers from across the globe for software engineering, authentication, access management and control:

  • QvarnLabs – Primary developers of the free and open source software
  • Gluu – The open-source identity and access management platform at the heart of Qvarn, enabling organizations to offer centralized single sign-on and strong authentication
  • Yubico – Provider of the YubiKey, a USB and NFC device supporting secure authentication protocols for access to Qvarn
  • Nixu – Cybersecurity corporation responsible for implementation and control of client solutions on the Qvarn Platform

The Qvarn team will be at exhibition stand number 02:47 for the duration of the Nordic IT Security Conference. For more information or meeting requests, please contact Qvarn marketing communications:

PARTNERSHIP CREATES SCANDINAVIA’S BIGGEST SECURITY SHOW

Two of Scandinavia’s biggest security exhibitions – Nordic IT Security and SKYDD – are coming together to create a destination event for 15000+ European security executives.

STOCKHOLM, 25th April 2016 – Over 15,000 visitors will make their way to the region’s biggest Security Solutions gathering on 26th October 2016 – following a partnership agreement between Nordic IT Security and SKYDD.

The two biggest events in the region for information security and physical protection will co-locate their events in 2016 as part of partnership to provide security professionals with an integrated platform to evaluate their security requirements.

Nordic IT Security and SKYDD will bring together best-in-breed solutions for Information Security and Physical Security under the same roof, providing Europe’s Chief Security Officers and other Risk Management professionals with a one-stop-shop catering to all their security needs.

Exhibition attendees to both shows have consistently indicated that many are responsible for managing their organisation’s overall risk profile – something encompassing information security and physical security risk. By co-locating the two most established security events in the region, each exhibition will benefit from access to a combined pool of over 15,000 trade visitors.

In addition to increased audience scale – the co-located exhibitions will provide access to a broader pool of exhibitors, likely increasing the seniority of attendees further.

“I’m very happy,” said Lisa Bergström, Managing Director of Copperberg AB, the organiser of Nordic IT Security. “It is really a logical partnership that gives the attendees a platform covering both virtual as physical security challenges.”

“This is a logical Partnership making for great synergies” said Magnus Eriksson, Area Project Manager at Stockholmsmässan and the organiser of SKYDD. “This way we can offer our existing large group of Security Professionals an even better meeting place.”

SKYDD will be held 25-27th of October and Nordic IT Security on the 26th of October 2016, in Stockholmsmässan, Älvsjö Stockholm, Sweden. The two events will retain their distinct identities and continue to be managed and operated separately, pooling some marketing, registration and onsite management activities.
